Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy is drafted for transparency based on the app practices described. It is not legal advice. Before publication, consider review by a qualified legal professional to confirm compliance with the laws and App Store requirements that apply to your business and users.
01 / App identity
Privacy-first hydration coaching
This Privacy Policy explains how Water Reminder (DrinkIt), an iOS hydration-tracking and coaching app, handles your information when you use the app.
The app helps calculate and pace your daily water intake using profile details, hydration logs, biological signals, and environmental factors such as local heat or activity.
Core hydration data is designed to remain on your device whenever possible and is never sold to third parties.
02 / Profile, logs, vessels, sleep
Information you provide
Profile information may include your name and body weight, which are used to calculate daily hydration targets.
Hydration logs record the volume of water you log in ml or oz together with the exact timestamp of each entry.
Vessel preferences may include custom names and volumes for user-defined bottles, glasses, or cups.
Sleep schedule information, including wake-up and bedtime, is used to schedule reminders and pace hydration during your day.
03 / Sensitive health permissions
Apple Health and HealthKit data
With your permission, the app may read Resting Heart Rate and Active Energy Burned from HealthKit to adjust hydration targets based on activity and biological context.
The app may write Water Intake to Apple Health so your hydration history can be reflected in the Apple Health app.
HealthKit data is used only for hydration-related functionality and is not used for advertising, sold, or shared with advertising platforms.
04 / While in use only
Location and weather adjustment
The app may request precise or approximate location while in use to fetch local weather and temperature data for the Heat Adjustment feature.
Location is used to understand current environmental conditions and adjust water goals. It is not used to build a location history inside the app.
Weather services may receive location data necessary to return temperature information, and this data is typically anonymized or not stored permanently by the app.
05 / Stability and improvement
Automated device information and diagnostics
Analytics and advertising SDKs may collect device information such as iOS version, device model, region, app performance, and interaction events.
Firebase Google Analytics may collect anonymous usage data, such as which screens are visited, to help improve the app experience.
Firebase Crashlytics may collect crash reports and performance logs to identify bugs, diagnose stability issues, and improve reliability.
06 / Free app support
Advertising, AdMob, and App Tracking Transparency
The app may use Google AdMob, including Google Mobile Ads SDK and User Messaging Platform, to show ads that support the free version of the app.
If you grant App Tracking Transparency permission, AdMob may collect the IDFA and use cookies or device identifiers to serve and personalize ads.
AdMob may collect ad interaction data, including which ads were viewed or clicked. You can decline tracking or disable personalized ads where available.
07 / User-controlled access
Permissions requested by the app
Notifications are requested to send Smart Reminders based on hydration pacing and your schedule.
HealthKit permission is requested to sync water intake and read activity-related signals used for hydration target adjustments.
Location While in Use permission is requested to adjust goals based on current local heat or weather.
App Tracking Transparency permission is requested only for personalized advertising through Google AdMob.
08 / Local-first architecture
Storage, security, and cloud sync
Most profile data, hydration logs, vessels, schedules, and app settings are stored locally on your device using SwiftData, CoreData, and UserDefaults.
App Groups may be used to share hydration progress with Home Screen Widgets so your current status can appear outside the main app.
Data may sync to your private iCloud account through Apple Health or HealthKit. The developer does not operate an external hydration database and does not have access to your private iCloud health data.
Reasonable technical and organizational safeguards are used, but no app or storage method can be guaranteed to be perfectly secure.
09 / Limited and functional use
Why is data processed
Personalisation: to calculate water needs based on weight, activity, and hydration history.
Smart logic: to adjust pacing and reminder timing based on how fast you are drinking during the day.
Monetization: to show ads that support the free version of the app.
Improvement: to understand crashes, performance issues, and broad usage patterns so the app can be improved.
10 / Control remains with you
Your choices, deletion, and retention
You can delete individual water logs or clear your entire profile within the app where these controls are provided.
You can disable notifications, location access, HealthKit access, or ad tracking at any time from iOS System Settings.
Locally stored app data remains on your device until you delete it in the app, remove the app, reset app data, or otherwise manage it through iOS.
Third-party services such as Google AdMob and Firebase may retain data according to their own privacy policies and retention practices.
11 / Limited service providers
Third-party services and processors
Google AdMob may process advertising identifiers, device data, cookies or similar technologies, and ad interaction data for advertising delivery and measurement.
Firebase Google Analytics and Crashlytics may process usage analytics, diagnostic logs, crash reports, and performance data.
Weather providers may process approximate or precise location data only as needed to return local weather or temperature information for hydration adjustments.
These third parties process data under their own terms and privacy policies, and their practices may vary by region and user consent choices.
12 / Policy administration
Children, international users, updates, and contact
The app is not intended to knowingly collect personal information from children where parental consent is legally required. If you believe a child provided personal information, contact support.
If you use the app outside your country of residence, information processed by third-party services may be handled in countries with different data protection laws.
This policy may be updated to reflect product, legal, or third-party service changes. The last-updated date will be revised when material changes are made.
